Friday Faves- The Headboard

I've had a headboard on my mind for a while.   In our last house we had this weird window over our bed and never had one.  I have a ton of scrap wood and badly want to make my own.  I'm in love with just about everything Heathrsmith on Instagram makes.  Not sure if she has a website but the pieces she makes are absolutely beautiful.  Here's some more of my inspo:

I'm off to hang up some birdhouses that I've had in boxes for a while and try to find some motivation to clean house.  Happy Friday!

Friday Faves: Knuckle Rings

4 Above the Knuckle Rings - gold thin shiny rings - set of 4 stack midi rings
Double layer wishbone/chevron knuckle ring - 2 sterling silver knuckle wire band.
Triangle Knuckle Ring -Layering Above the knuckle Gold Brass Stacking Ring
I'm eating my words once again.  I said many times long ago that the 80s and 90s were the worst ever in terms of fashion and I hoped they would never come back.  Since I've said that I've bought many a pair of dance pants (leggings), and still, not so secretly want a gold shiny pair.  No lie.  I've also had my eye on these over the knuckle rings for awhile.  I wore them in highschool and still like them.  So there you go. I can't get enough of the 80s and 90s right now.  I. love. it. all.  Minus big bangs and wings and aqua net.  I'm going to go hot roll my hair now.

If you like these little rings but would rather have real gold CatbirdNYC has a ton.   Happy Friday! Amy

Need I say more?  I love her jewelry.  I have one of her headpieces and I adore it.  Next on my list is the the black arrowhead necklace.  You can visit her shop here and her blog here.

It's Friday!  My son has a birthday party on Sunday.  They are seeing Rise of the Guardians.  He is pretty peeved that I am going.  I even promised to sit in the back and ignore him.  I can't lie...I really just want to watch a movie and eat popcorn.  Embarrassing him is just payback for all the yelling and cleaning and cooking he makes me do.  Ahhh, it's good to be mom.  xoxo, Amy

Friday Faves-It's a Campout

Our large deluxe luxury tents are ideal for glamping holidays

We are planning on taking our kids camping next month. (*disclaimer- could be subject to change due to inclement weather-hot and humid in the midwest- and chicken s___ parents who fear sleeping in discomfort.)  That being said, I think all children need to experience camping once in their lifetime.  I kind of feel a parental duty to take them for the first time and introduce them to this magical experience.

I hopped online today looking for a tent and got completely sidetracked by these beauties.  Now, no ordinary tent will do.  It may have to...but I will be dreaming of these instead.  I imagine living in the country where we can put one up in our backyard...near a fire pit...under the trees...under the moon and stars.  Like I said, I am a dreamer.  In the meantime, I will continue my search for something practical, along with some of those foam pads for comfort!

Friday is finally here!  I am heading down to lake late tonight for my annual "girls weekend at the lake".  The plan is to come home Saturday night early enough to see my kiddos before bed.  But, the husband reminded me tonight I might want to actually make it a weekend and give myself a break.  We'll see what happens.  Usually one night away is enough to clear my mind and regain my sense of self.  Funny thing is, the 2 hour drive with one of my besties is usually the funnest part.  We talk the whole way and before we know it we're there.  We've been doing this for over 15 years now.  Sometimes less than 10 of us show...sometimes there is 20+.   Our ages range anywhere from mid 20's all the way to late 60's early 70's.  It really is the best time ever.   For you youngsters out there here's my two cents: hang on to your girls (even if it's only a handful), the older you get, they really do become like family.  More like the sisters you got to handpick!

Aren't these amazing?  They are from the Mucho Mucho Bueno Bueno shop.  I have the phoenix necklace on the right with my kids names.  My son thinks it's the coolest and is always trying to steal it.  I say NO bueno to those sticky fingers.  Not with my favorite necklace.  The mama ring is on my list.  If you haven't checked out their blog you must. Check it here.

Going to a T-Bones game tonight for the boy.  Should be fun...it's Star Wars theme night and his whole team gets to go out on the field.  That's a pretty big deal for 6 year old.

Happy Friday!  I can't wait for the weekend!

I don't know about you guys but I am ready for the weekend.  I have been working WAY too much, had WAY too many after school activities and in need of a major break.  I want to paint sticks with my kids, sleep in, snuggle with my babies, wear no make up, and watch movies.

Happy Friday!

Amy

Friday Favorites-Hooptie Love

Don't get me wrong I love a good reliable car that starts every time and blows cold air in the summer and warm air in the winter, but nothing really compares to an old hooptie.  No lie, I could totally see myself driving this.  I saw it on the way home from the dentist and it struck a nerve.

It reminded me just how much I love old cars.

I have this one above in white...with specks of mold on the inside and rust on the exterior...and a sweet flat tire.  It will be going to a good home soon.  I will miss her, but I just don't have time to take her for walks, wash her, start her, or charge her battery.

My dad had one similar to this.  It had a sunroof, a CB radio, an 8 track player, and if he stepped on the gas smoke bellowed out of the exhaust.  We called it a smokescreen.  It was pure awesomeness.  Come to think of it my uncle had one in light blue.  It was THE car of my childhood.  It brings back memories of swimming in the summertime and sitting on those hot leather seats.  It reminds me of long road trips, grade school, and so much more.

My love for old things doesn't stop at clothes or husbands.  I love me an old hooptie too.  What cars remind you of your childhood?

Happy Friday night!

Amy

Friday Faves-Coachella

I have been wanting to go to Coachella since I heard about it years ago.  Unfortunately I know attending is not in my near future.  My niece went this year so I hooked her up with some great vintage dresses.  Can't wait to see her pictures.  She was in VIP so I know they will be good.  I want to go not just for the music...but for the fashion eye candy.  I am a people watcher so I would be in hippie heaven.

Don't hate.  If I had a body like Chanel Iman I would wear my studded leathers too.

It's Friday! I am need of a weekend.  We are going to the famous Stroud's restaurant tonight for dinner.  My husband bet a friend on the outcome of the Master's so we get a free dinner.  Wahoo (that's my daughters new favorite word).  Winner winner chicken dinner!  For reals.  If you ever come to KC...make it a point to go there.  Assuming you like things like fried chicken, steak, mashed potatoes and gravy and cinnamon rolls.  And if you like gizzards and livers...they have the best. Hands down.

Amy
