For a long time I have been toying with idea of changing the name of my vintage shop. When we chose a name for the records (Wanderland Records). I thought about changing the name of my vintage shop to Wanderland Vintage to go with it. People who don't know me personally probably don't get the whole "Green Eggs and Hamm". My maiden name is Hamm and throughout high school, college, and most of my adult life people have always referred to me by my last name...or some moniker of it. A friend in college used to just call me Green Eggs...without the Hamm.
Now, I am trying to buckle down a bit and get more serious about the blog, the vintage, and the records. What is your opinion? Should I stick with the Green Eggs and Hamm? Or change it to Wanderland Vintage? Do I just rename the shop? Or the blog also? I'm looking for the opinion of you guys to help me out! Thanks a ton! I hope this week is crazy short and Friday is here before we know it.
xoxo,
Amy
That's a hard one! Green Eggs and Hamm is a cute name, but Wanderland Vintage sounds great as well and ties in with the record shop. Having the same name for both might be good as people will easily associate one with the other.
ReplyDeleteI personally have had many shop/blog name changes until getting to the right one, so I would just go with your gut and choose the name you love the most! Or get the best of both worlds and change the store name to Wanderland Vintage but keep the Green Eggs and Hamm blog.
Hope this helps- choosing a shop name is always hard to do, but you'll get there in the end! :)

Wanderland Vintage has a nice ring to it! If you decide to stay with your current blog/shop name, you could always add a quick note to the "about" section that it was your maiden name (which is totally awesome, by the way) to give it context.
ReplyDeleteThey're both great. I would keep the name of the blog the same, but change the shop to match the record shop. Wanderland Vintage is super cute. But I like Green Eggs and Hamm when it comes to your blog because I automatically think about you. If that makes sense.
ReplyDeleteYeah I don't think you should change your blog name seeing as how it's mostly a personal blog. But Wanderland Vintage does sound cool. Perhaps you could call your blog "Amy in Wanderland"?
ReplyDeleteamy at 'a is for ampersand' just recently changed the name of her blog without changing anything else {url address, etc.} she wrote a really great post outlining her reasons and i thought it was a great choice. as a reader i will still be following and supporting, no matter what the name. also, wanderland is a pretty kickass name...
ReplyDeleteI think your aces, so whatever you do will be right...but I have to admit that I love the use of your maiden name in the Green Eggs & Hamm...
ReplyDeleteHey there! I guess it just depends on your goals. From a marketing perspective, if you are looking to brand yourself, then your names should be consistent across the board {or some variation of each other}. Otherwise, people may not recognize who you are. If the blog is just personal and in no way related to the records and shop, then just keep the name the same {I like it!}
ReplyDeleteHi, I think Green eggs and Hamm is a great name! It's personal, and different, my blog's called Hey!Homewrecker and I'm really not sure that was a great idea at all! People might the wrong idea completely! :O
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Green Eggs and Hamm - and if you're still loving it then you should totally keep it as your blog name since you blog about you and what you love. I really like the idea of the two shops being a similar name. Wanderland Vintage is lovely!
