Sammy Sam

Well, this is a good 3 weeks late, but at least I made it before October! Oh Samantha.  I sit down to right this and just want to cry.  You are 4 years old.  You were such an easy baby.  Easy birth, semi- good sleeper.  And then you started walking, then talking...and then talking back.  You are such an angel...and such a fireball.  Sometimes I just don't know what to do.  You climb, you fight back, you don't back down, but then you smile, and love, oh do you love.  You are forever my lover, my little snuggler.  Mornings are rough because you like to stay up until 10 or 11, but when you finally wake up you come out of your room smiling and wide eyed, ready to start your day.  You give me kisses and wrap those long arms around me for a great big hug.  You sit at the table with me and want to put on makeup.  I am getting away with faking it for now but not sure how long that will last.  You like to dress yourself, and I let you.  I am going to try to continue to let you too.  I don't want you to lose your "you" or conform to something you think you should be.  I want you to keep your uniqueness because you are pretty special.  And I have a feeling you will do big things some day.

You are really into Tangled right now and tell me every day that you have magic hair that glows when you sing.

Your favorite thing to wear is a pink polka dot skirt I made in highschool.

You started ballet and tap.  You call it "balleray" and looooove it.

You like to take cold baths.  You love swimming so that may be it.  It's crazy to me, but it's your bath.

I fear you may have jackass level tendencies.  Sometimes the stunts you and your brother pull make me wonder if I had something to do with it.  I'm sorry.  Please oh please don't ever hurt yourself.   And, no driving the cars before 14.  And stop trying to slide down stair case railings...I can't handle it.

You like to drink milk from the jug and burp as loud as you can.

Stop getting so big.  You are my baby.

Thrifted Thursdays

These are some finds from a few weeks ago.  I got the whole lot for $11 bucks and some change.  A couple days later I went back and found two more polaroid cameras.  If you need one message me, I'll be listing them soon!

My daughter said she wanted a basket for her bike and I found one for 50 cents!  I also got the thermos, potholder, holly hobbie pillowcase (I think I had the same one when I was a little girl), 2 pairs of jeans, and that super cute purse that Sammy has been attached to since I got it.  Come to think of it she had it at soccer practice last night stuffed full of toys, along with another purse stuffed full of toys, a book, a crown, a baby, a blanket and snacks.  She packed light.

I thought I would save the best for last with the package of needlepoints.  I am a sucker for stuff like this.  They are almost always totally worth it.  They are usually cheap too, since they've been opened and may not have everything.  Almost all the ones I have found have not only had most of the kit but extra stuff as well.  If you are a crafter these are the best. The one above is almost finished.

Anyone find anything good recently?   I would love to see it.  Leave a link in the comments if you did. And, I apologize for terrible photos.

xoxo,
Amy

Exhale

For those of you who stuck around during my little blog hiatus, you're the bees knees.  Life got a bit overwhelming and I needed to take a step back and regroup.  I was in Florida recently and one thing I noticed on a daily basis is the view (which in my opinion is always beautiful).  But the view is always different based on the direction you are looking out.  You look out one direction and the skies have these big gray rolling clouds where storms are brewing and things are dark and gloomy.  You turn 180 degrees and you see nothing but blue skies and sun.  Sometimes all you need to do is change the direction you are looking.
On another note, I finished operation closet clean out and got rid of a ton of stuff!   I am thinking about diving back in getting rid of even more.  I am extending the sale in the shop because I need to clear out summer inventory and am excited to start adding more new stuff for fall and winter.  Use code wanderland50 for half off!  *special discount for Green Eggs and Hamm followers only!

We've been doing some landscaping and hauling dirt around.  It's not fun at all but the kids enjoy it.  Ok, it's kind of fun, I do like digging in the dirt!  There is a reason the "experts" say if your kids are wound up or cranky tell them to go stick their hands in dirt.  There is something soothing and calming about it...even for grown ups.

Also, this little one had a special birthday.  I'll be back to do a special post just for her.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
xoxo,
Amy

1st day of school 2012

1st grade for him.  Preschool for her.  The hand holding in this picture was coerced, don't get it twisted.  Although I could feel the tears coming on...I kept it together, even after I was alone in my car...which is typically where the tears start falling.  I am proud of my little superstars, and even a little a proud of myself for a tear free start to the school year.  The past 6 years have gone by like a flash.  Hopefully they will be taught really valuable things this year like...how to fold clothes, how to make a killer lasagna, and how to not kick everything that happens to be within 2 inches of their feet.   Well, my son has only had two helpings of dinner and some ice cream so needless to say he is hungry again.   I'm out.

xoxo,
Amy

Get yo vintage!

Sometimes in life things come to a head and you realize you may have too much on your plate.  That just happened to me.  I am a yes person, a people pleaser.  I always have been.  I tend to jump into things without really thinking about them.  For about 6 months I have had a side job.  I probably only spent about 10 hours a week doing it...so for a while it was worth it.  A couple months ago I realized it was too much, but like a trooper I powered through it only to realize now that it was indeed too much.   So I came to the conclusion to let it go.  And it feels really good.

Another thing that feels really good?  Getting ready to for fall.  I am having a sale in both my shops.  Big Sale.  I have a ton of fall and winter stuff I am ready to get posted, but first, I need to clear out the summer stuff! If you have any questions on shipping email me, especially for multiple items and overseas shipping.  For overseas shipping I can usually offer cheaper rates once I know where it's going and how much is being shipped.  You can email me at amyschleicher@gmail.com.
Wanderland Records

Use code WANDERLAND50 for either shop for your 50% discount!  Sale ends Thursday September 6th.  Hope everyone enjoys their holiday weekend.  We are headed to my sister in law's for their last pool party of the season.  The forecast is looking good.  100% chance of rain.

Amy
